Notes from the Clerk Church Meeting At our last Session meeting, the Session voted to have an informal congregational meeting immediately following worship on Sunday, June 3rd to discuss the direction of the church and to get feedback from our church family and friends as to the direction you would like the Session to go. We would like to hear what your expectations are of the church and how you feel the Session and Deacons can help meet your expectations. We would like to discuss the finances of the church, capital improvements we need to address and how we are going to finance them. etc. We would like to conduct this meeting in a fairly informal atmosphere and include a luncheon as part of the meeting. More information will follow regarding the luncheon. Rummage/Yard Sale I would like to organize a Rummage/Yard Sale on the church lawn on Saturday, May 26th with the proceeds of the sale to benefit the church. I am not able to do all of it myself so I am looking for volunteers to help organize and/or work the day of the sale. We will also need items to sell so if you would like to contribute to the sale and help the church, please let me know. (The Session voted that the monies raised, will help offset the cost involved with the Christian concert we have scheduled for the Friday night of the Home and Harvest Celebration in September.) Without volunteers I will not be able to make this happen, so please consider donating some of your time. Thank you. In His Service, Sarah W. Edwards, clerk |

Inside the Church we are celebrating the season of Eastertide, and the Gospel readings focus on the Lord’s post-resurrection appearances. It’s a time for rejoicing, for Alleluias and Hope and the triumph of God’s Love over death and everything negative. Yet in our world, in the last two weeks, we have experienced the tragedy at Virginia Tech and the Nor’easter flooding in New England, and everywhere we turn neighbors are sick and children are at risk. The calendar says Spring is here, but in spite of the defiant shorts-wearers the daffodiles haven’t bloomed yet. So, how do we put the resurrection and the reality together? |

Manse foundation repairs Bill Newbold and Don Readel have been hard at work over at the manse. One part of the foundation needed new mortar in the bricks so during this process there was a gaping hole in the foundation! (Pictured are Gordon Webber and Michael Frosch doing repair work with Bill Newbold looking on.) The boards above this were rotted as well, and most of that wall needed to be replaced. Always, one job leads to another, leads to another. Those little jobs seem to blossom before your eyes into huge projects! It, of course, helped when an electrical line and a water pipe were both accidentally cut. Bill was holding the saw at the time but makes no claims to this event! He was very concerned about his brand new saw! |

70’s Sock-Hop Disco Dude On March 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, the middle school kids of Logos hosted a 70’s sock-hop. With music provided by Alan Fahrner and disco memorabilia provided by Charlotte Lakus, it was an extravagant, or should I say, groovy, party. There were games including pin the disco ball on the string and Twister. On the dance floor The girls proved that ladies have more elegance then men with a simple game of Twister: On-and-on the ladies’ game went (we had to stop it with only one person out), but the guys, however, went down in two minutes with one big swoop. (It was a tie.) We danced to songs like “Locomotion” and “Y.M.C.A” ‘til the party boiled down to a halt and everyone went home. |

This newsletter submission brings us into the midst of the season of Lent. As we look forward to Easter and the coming of spring, we reflect on our lives and thank God for the blessings he bestows upon us. I always thank God for his presence in my daily life. A wonderful thing happened at the bus stop with my daughter the other morning. As we stood there in the cold, she reminded me that we should say a prayer as our day started. Thanks be to God that the spirit is working through her at such a young age. I would like to take this opportunity to thank God, my family, and the people of this church for helping her to know the Lord and all of his wonderful teachings. Thank you for your valuable contribution to my daughter’s love of God. I hope that you too feel the spirit of the Lord working in your lives, like I did at the bus stop. The Deacons met on February 13th, the day before the big storm! We were pleased to have Michelle Fahrner with us and hear her valuable input and ideas as our newest Deacon. We hope that you all enjoyed the hymn sing in January. We look forward to doing it again in the near future. Thanks to Madelyn for working with us to make it such a success-without her, we couldn’t have done it! This reminds me, that we need to be in prayer for the search committee as they work on finding us a new organist and choir director. We will miss Madelyn so very much! May the Lord bless you all throughout this season of Lent. |
